At least, two FIRs have been lodged against state NRC coordinator Prateek Hajela for alleged deliberate exclusion of genuine Indian citizens from the final list.

While one FIR has been filed in Guwahati, the second has been filed in Dibrugarh.

The first complaint has been filed by the Asom Garia-Maria Yuba Chhatra Parishad at the Latasil Police Station in Guwahati. The organisation accused Hajela of producing an expensive, farcical document that left out many indigenous people.

The complaint in Dibrugarh has been filed by Chandan Mazumdar, a member of the All India Legal Aid Forum. He has accused Hajela of deliberately excluding him and his family from the NRC.
