Bindo M Lanong to lead UDP till party General Council

The United Democratic Party (UDP) in its Central Executive Meeting on Friday decided that Senior Working president, Bindo M Lanong will continue to lead the party until the General Council

The United Democratic Party (UDP) in its Central Executive Meeting on Friday decided that Senior Working president, Bindo M Lanong will continue to lead the party until the General Council on September 11.

The Central Executive meet also left the decision to decide the name for the post of the speaker to its Parliamentary Party.

Senior UDP leader, Jemino Mawthoh informed that Lanong will continue to lead the party until they re-elect office bearers during the General Council on September 11.

Talking about the post of the speaker, Mawthoh said that they have left it to the UDP’s Parliamentary Party comprising of elected representatives from the party to decide amongst themselves.

Significantly, Mawthoh informed that UDP leaders and supporters from Shella want the party to field Late Donkupar Roy’s son Balajied Roy Synrem for the by-poll as an when it takes place. He added that the party will endorse their decision.

To a query if the UDP candidate will be the common candidate of the MDA coalition, Mawthoh said that the MDA coalition is a family the party will appeal to all its coalition partners not to field any candidate in Shella by elections.
