Bringing glory to Assam and the nation, Assamese filmmaker Rima Das has added another feather to her cap with her latest feature film ‘Bulbul Can Sing’, which has won the ‘Best Indie Film’ award at the ongoing Indian Film Festival of Melbourne.

Rima’s ‘Bulbul Can Sing’ which had previously been showcased at various global platforms has officially opened the film festival with a screening on the night of August 8 as the official Australian premiere of the film.

The national award-winning filmmaker has proven her mettle as an Indian director traveling with her cinema globally, and earned several honours and accolades.

Her most popular film, ‘Village Rockstars’ was an Assamese language film which won the National Award for Best Feature Film in 2018 and was India’s official entry from the country to the Oscars.

Among the many Bollywood stars that attended the event, the Badshah of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan was also present at the film fest of Melbourne and was seen encouraging Rima Das for her brilliant achievement in Indian art films at an international platform.
