In a major road accident, two buses collided head-on near Demow in Rajmai at NH-37 on Monday afternoon.
About 50 people have been injured in the collision and have been admitted to a local hospital in Demow; no casualty has been reported in the incident.
With road mishaps rising everyday, poor road condition has been considered to be the prime cause behind the accident.
The NH-37 road is in bad shape due to the monsoons, thereby making people suffer immensely. Locals alleged that the pathetic condition of the road is due to the failure of the administration.
Meanwhile, the poor condition of the National Highways in the state came under sharp criticism in the Lok Sabha on Thursday.
The issue had been raised by BJP MP Tapan Kumar Gogoi in the ongoing session, where he mentioned that the national highways are accident prone. Presenting the issue in lower house, Gogoi sought immediate repair of the National Highway’s.
In a reply to Assam MP regarding the highway issue, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari blamed the state government for the tardy progress of the four-laning project in Assam.
