Today is the 5th International Yoga Day, since 2015, on this day each year, the day has been observed as per the declaration by the United Nations General Assembly.
The observance of this day is seen as one of the success stories of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s foreign policy. The day, proposed by PM Modi during his 2014 speech at the UNGA, is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and shares a special significance in many parts of the world.
Like every year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took the lead in observing the day highlighting the ancient practice of yoga to the world as a viable option to staying fit and healthy.
A special programme was held today at the Prabhat Tara ground in Jharkhand’s capital Ranchi where the Prime Minister, sporting the Assamese Gamosa like each year, led a large crowd in an early morning session of practicing different yoga asanas.
The Prime Minister also addressed the crowd and talked about the benefits of performing yoga every morning.
