After a year of rigorous training at the Barhampur camp of the ninth battalion of Assam Police, the Special Rhino Protection Force is finally ready to carry on with their tasks. The special force has been prepared for the first time to act as a protection force for the endangered one-horned rhinoceros.
The force comprises of a total of 82 personnel out of which eight are women. The force has been formed with the aim of combating the menace of poachers that is quite rampant in Assam’s forests. The special force will be deployed to the Kaziranga National Park where they will begin their duties in a week’s time from now.
