Mizoram chief minister Zoramthanga, who holds the Finance portfolio, will present the state’s annual budget for the fiscal 2019-2020 in the upcoming Assembly session to be held between June 12

Mizoram chief minister Zoramthanga, who holds the Finance portfolio, will present the state’s annual budget for the fiscal 2019-2020 in the upcoming Assembly session to be held between June 12 and 27.

The meeting of Business Advisory Committee held under the chairmanship of speaker Lalrinliana Sailo recently decided that the state budget will be presented on June 13.

During the assembly session held in March, Zoramthanga had presented vote on account for the first four months, that is, from April to July, of the fiscal 2019-2020 amounting to Rs Three thousand five hundred and eighty eight crore. Though the regular budget had already been prepared, the assembly could not pass it due to enforcement of model code of conduct in connection with the Lok Sabha polls.

In the last session held in March, the state Assembly had passed at least 14 bills, including “The Mizoram Liquor (Prohibition) Bill, 2019,” and “The Mizoram Maintenance of Household Register Bill, 2019.”

According to the official, questions and bills can be submitted till June 12 and June 23 respectively. The assembly will conclude on June 27.
