Acting on a tip off about movement of contraband items through West Jaintia Hills District of Meghalaya, the Special Team of West Jaintia Hills District Executive Force seized gold bars worth Rs 70 lakh.
The team while frisking all suspected vehicles through the check points of the district recovered gold bars from the possession of a person named Amir Hussain, who is a resident of Lilong Turel Ahanbi in Manipur.
Hussain was travelling in a bus from Jiribam in Manipur to Guwahati. The bus was intercepted by the special forces leading to the seizure of the gold bars. Each gold bar weighs approximately 166 grams each.
