Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday was conferred with Maldives’ highest honour accorded to foreign dignitaries, ‘The most honourable order of the distinguished Rule of Nishan Izzuddeen.’

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih conferred upon Prime Minister Modi the prestigious honour. PM Modi on being conferred with the honour said that It is not just an honour conferred upon him but it is a gesture of respect given to the friendship and relations between the two countries.

Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Top BJP leader and NEDA convenor Himanta Biswa Sarma congratulated PM Modi upon being conferred with the Highest Honour accorded to Foreign Dignitaries in Maldives today.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Maldives today on his first official foreign trip after becoming the Prime Minister for the second time. PM Modi arrived at the capital Male.

He was received by Maldives President Ibrahim Solih. Reportedly, PM Modi will inaugurate two key projects with an eye on China’s pro-active moves in the Indian Ocean region.

PM Modi engaged in talks earlier today with President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih in the Island Nation’s capital Male in a bid to strengthen the nation’s diplomatic ties.

The agenda of the bilateral meeting in Maldives along and Sri Lanka tomorrow is line with India’s neighbourhood-first policy to strengthen security and economic growth, said PM Modi ahead of his visit 2-nation visit.
