Air Officer Commanding-in-chief Air Marshal RD Mathur based at the Eastern Air Command, Shillong went to Jorhat on Tuesday to meet the family members of the 13 IAF personnel who were on board the AN-32 Aircraft that has gone missing on its way to Mechuka Advanced Landing Ground in Arunachal.
On his visit, Air Marshal Mathur was briefed about the progress of the search and rescue operations. Air Marshal Mathur informed that Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Pema Khandu and the state’s chief secretary personally called him to assure all possible help and support in the search operations.
Meanwhile, search and rescue operations intensified in two Arunachal districts as authorities fail to trace the missing AN-32 aircraft.
The Indian Navy’s Long range Maritime Reconnaissance aircraft P8-I was also being rushed in from Chennai for assistance in search operations.
Besides this, ISRO satellites like Radar Imaging Satellite (RISAT) have also been pressed into service over parts of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam to locate the missing AN-32 transport aircraft.
