ZPM aims to emerge as big regional force

Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM), an electoral alliance formed by six minor parties, has decided to merge into a single party.

ZPM senior vice president Dr. Kenneth Chawngliana said the coalition party which currently comprises of six parties will merge into one under the ZPM banner by July.

“Almost all the six parties barring the Mizoram People’s Conference (MPC) have consented to merge into one,” he said, adding the MPC will soon hold meeting over the merger.

“We are hopeful that all the parties including Mizoram Peoples Conference join hands as a single party,” he added.

The ZPM had forged an alliance with the Congress for the election to the lone Lok Sabha seat in Mizoram and the by-poll to the Aizawl West 1 assembly seat. The ZPM also made a statement that the party has snapped ties with the Congress party.
