Two days after taking oath as a cabinet minister in the Narendra Modi government, Amit Shah took charge of the Home Ministry on Saturday.
This is the first time that Amit Shah has been inducted into the Union Cabinet. After taking charge, he thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for trusting him with this responsibility.
Shah was accorded warm welcome by both Ministers of state Nityanand Rai and G Kishan Reddy. Shah replaced Rajnath Singh in the Home Ministry. Rajnath, meanwhile has been given the Defence portfolio.
Both Shah & Modi began their political career together. He also served as Home Minister in Gujarat cabinet when Modi was the chief minister.
Shah is also the BJP president and since the time he took charge of the party, the party has emerged victorious in 10 out of the 13 elections. Whether Shah will continue to be BJP president, is the big question now.
