Members of ‘Meira Paibi’ groups which translates as ‘Women Torchbearer of Manipur’ observed its 21st Meira Paibi Numit or Meira Paibi Day on Tuesday at Kurai Salanthong Tharow Devi Lampak
Members of ‘Meira Paibi’ groups which translates as ‘Women Torchbearer of Manipur’ observed its 21st Meira Paibi Numit or Meira Paibi Day on Tuesday at Kurai Salanthong Tharow Devi Lampak in Manipur’s Imphal East District.
The day was organised by Meira Paibi Observation Committee, and the event started by offering floral tributes & prayers at the statue of Meira Paibi.
Meira Paibi all-women pressure groups head any social movement and are regard as ‘guardians of civil society’, who took an active role in confronting any societal or state-centric issue.
The function was attended by Retd Professor of Kshetri Bimola and Meira Paibi leader namely Ema Memchoubi, Rangshongrang Koireng who presided as important guests of the function.
Meira Paibi groups have been taking active role in fight against drug menace, seeking justice against human rights excesses committed by paramilitary and armed forces under AFSPA. Meira Paibi groups have also been vocal about implementation of CAB and ILPS or similar system in Manipur.
