The Railway Protection Force and the Government Railway Police arrested 5 Rohingyas including a woman from the Guwahati Railway station on Tuesday.
According to reports, the Rohingyas were on their way to New Delhi after boarding the train in Manipur’s capital city Imphal.
A GRP team during routine check found the woman carrying a court order granting her bail, following her arrest in Manipur. The men had train tickets to Delhi while the woman had a platform ticket.
During interrogation, the Rohingyas disclosed that they were heading to the national capital to acquire certificates of Refugee Status from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
The five persons have been identified as Makakmyayum Shenaz, Md Zubar, Md Kamal Hussain, Nurul Hakim and Md Kalimula.
The most startling fact about the arrest is that the the five arrested Rohingyas were out on bail from detention in Manipur.
