Opposition in Meghalaya, the Congress has slammed the NPP-led State Government for allegedly failing to protect the people and properties of the State along the border with Assam.

Asserting that the State Government is bound to act on the issue, Leader of opposition and former Meghalaya Chief Minister Mukul Sangma said that the MDA Government needs to wake up and act.

The scathing remark from the Congress came after a nine-member team of Congress legislator led by Mukul Sangma visited the Balakhawa village under Ri-Bhoi district bordering Assam, following reports of tension.
