Voting for the 1st phase of Lok Sabha polls passed of peacefully by and large in the 14 out of 25 constituencies in the region that witnessed elections on Thursday.

Apart from reports of malfunctioning of EVMs there was no major hiccup in the polling process.

Polling was held in 5 constituencies in Assam, 2 each in Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya, 1 seat each in Manipur and Tripura.
The lone Lok Sabha seats in Nagaland, Mizoram and Sikkim also went to polls today. Meanwhile, Assembly elections were also held in Arunachal and Sikkim.

According to the latest figures, almost all constituencies in the region have crossed the 60 percent mark as far as voter turnout is concerned.
