Veteran leftist politician from Assam, Drupad Borgohain passed away on Wednesday at the age of 78.
Borgohain was suffering from kidney related ailments. He breathed his last this morning at 6 am at Dibrugarh’s Aditya Nursing Home.
Born on November 7, 1941 in Sivasagar, Borgohain started his career as a teacher before moving to politics.
Borgohain was the Rajya Sabha member from 1998 to 2004 and had been the MLA from Nazira constituency from 2006 to 2011 in the Assam assembly.
He was also the former member of the Assam state council of the Communist Party of India and was has been elected as the president of Assam state council of All India Kisan Sabha in 2010.
