Former Nagaland Chief Minister and veteran Congress leader KL Chishi will be contesting from the lone Lok Sabha seat in the Nagaland.

The formal announcement of his candidature was made by the Central Election Committee of the Congress in New Delhi late Friday evening.

Chishi, who joined the BJP before the State Assembly Election in Nagaland last year, had lost the Assembly elections for Atoizu constituency.

The battle for the Lok Sabha, as of now, will be between two former colleagues – Tokheho Yepthomi of NDPP as PDA’s consensus candidate and KL Chishi of the Congress.

Both Yepthomi and Chishi were a part of the Congress Ministry during the reign of SC jamir as Chief Minister.
