ZPM, Cong announce Lalnghingolva Hmar as their common LS candidate

The opposition Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) and the Congress party today announced common candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls and Assembly by-election.

Mizoram Football Association General Secretary Lalnghingolva Hmar has been nominated as the common candidate for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

Meanwhile, Lalbuanga Sailo has been nominated as the candidate for Aizawl West 1 Assembly by-election.

The ZPM and Congress have been in talks for some time but only on Tuesday confirmed that they will be forming an alliance for the Lok Sabha polls as well as Assembly bye-election with the two parties having common candidates.

K Sapdanga, ZPM General Secretary said Mizoram Pradesh Congress Committee and Zoram People’s Movement jointly agreed to vote for secularism and agreed to sponsor people’s candidate in both the seats.

He also said that the common candidate will contest under the banner of ZPM and Congress with a ‘triangle’ symbol.
