In a major breakthrough into the ongoing crackdown against hooch in Assam.
Police has nabbed notorious hooch trader and kingpin Mahesh Weriyar from Jorhat town. Several cases have been filed against Weriyar and based on them the arrest was made.
The arrest is a part of the current crackdown against hooch trading in Assam after the recent tragedies that struck the districts of Golaghat and Jorhat leaving as many as 170 dead.
