Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, on Thursday, threatened that India would ‘choke’ the water supply to Pakistan in light of the Pulwama attack.

The latest warning from the Centre comes on the backdrop of the February 14 attack on CRPF convoy in Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir, which resulted in the death of 40 CRPF personnel.

A day later, the high-powered Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi had revoked the Most Favoured Nation (MFN) status granted to Pakistan.

Addressing a gathering in Baghpat in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday, Gadkari said that the water from three rivers entering Pakistan would be directed towards river Yamuna.

He further said that a project is being worked upon to connect the three rivers to further explore the possibilities of transportation in these water channels.

“Three of our rivers have been flowing into Pakistan. So water which we rightfully owned was going into Pakistan. Now we are planning to create a project and divert the waters of these three rivers to the Yamuna. So you can understand that there will be enough water in the Yamuna,” Gadkari said while inaugurating several water projects in Uttar Pradesh.
