The High Court of Meghalaya has raised questions on the investigation process of the case of attack on social activists Agnes Kharshiing and Amita Sangma.
A bench of the High Court headed by Justice Mohammad Y Mir raised questions on the role of the investigating officer of the case in regards to the statement of prime accused Nidamon Chullet, recorded by him.
Chullet in his statement alleged that Agnes Kharshiing and Amita Sangma were demanding money from him.
Justice Mir has directed the investigating officer of the case to submit a detailed clarification in this regard.
On the other hand Agnes Kharshiing and Amita Sangma have been demanding a CBI probe into the incident.
Earlier, Agnes Kharshiing and Amita Sangma were brutally attacked by a group of around 40 persons in Meghalaya’s East Jaintia Hills, after they lodged a complaint on illegal coal mining and transportation of coal in the district.
