The Myanmar Army has taken control of the headquarters of Myanmar based faction of the NSCN-K headed by Yung Aung.

As per reports, the Myanmar Army or the Tatmadaw took control of the headquarters of the NSCN-K in the Naga Self-Administered Zone of Sagaing Region without a single shot being fired.

Reports state that a military column consisting of over 400 troops from six battalions took control of the NSCN (K) headquarters. The exact reason for the move is yet to be ascertained.

Meanwhile, sources have told Northeast Live that many cadres of the NSCN-K have fled to the jungle following the army occupation.

It may be mentioned that the Myanmar government has been asking the NSCN-K to sigh the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement, but the armed group is reluctant to the same unless it reaches an agreement that can cover all the Nagas of Northeast India and Myanmar.

Both SS Khaplang, NSCN-K founder and former chairman Khango Konyak were opposed to signing of the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement.
