An elderly couple was brutally killed and buried near a river in Assam’s Chirang district on suspicion of practising witchcraft. The victims have been identified as Liku Sutradhar and his wife Lafare Sutradhar.

Meanwhile, the police have arrested eight persons in connection with the case who have been identified as Norey Sutradhar, Kaltu Sutradhar, Olaan Sutradhar, Danny Sutradhar, Ostom Sutradhar, Lakshman Sutradhar, Mongey Sutradhar and Shiva Sutradhar.

It may be mentioned that the prime accused Norey Sutradhar is the son of the victims. The Chirang police after receiving inputs swung into action and exhumed the bodies of the husband-wife duo near the banks of the Aai river.
