A day after the provoking statements by founder president of Cachar, Karimganj, Hailakandi Students Union and advocate Pradip Dutta Roy warning students in Assam University, Silchar not to stage any protest in the varsity campus against the contentious Citizenship (Amendment) Bill.

The Vice Chancellor of the university has issued prohibitory orders banning protest inside the campus. An order was issued undersigned by the registrar of Assam University Dr Sanjib Bhattacharjee prohibiting assembly, procession, dharna or any other gathering of people or group of people within the periphery of the University campus without prior approval.

The order stated that any unauthorized gathering will be treated as violation of public order and the person or persons involved in such violation will be dealt with sternly.
