Ending all speculation, the National People’s Party announced that former chairman of the People’s Democratic Front who recently resigned from the party is joining the NPP.

PN Syiem, who was the chairman of PDF, had on Sunday shot off his resignation letter to PDF president Ivanlumlang Marbaniang stating that he had been sidelined from important meetings and party affairs.

Speaking to North East Live, NPP state president WR Kharlukhi informed that PN Syiem will be joining the NPP on January 5 at a big rally in Mawsynram.

Answering a query as to whether or not PN Syiem joining the NPP will in anyway affect the MDA coalition as PDF is a partner, Kharlukhi said that it will not have any sort of bearing on the coalition as any leader is free to join any party of their choice if they choose to do so.

It may be mentioned that PDF have four MLA’s in the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance coalition.
