Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Bogibeel Bridge on December 25, India’s longest rail-road bridge over the river Brahmaputra.

The 4.94 km long Bogibeel Bridge connects north and south banks of Brahmaputra in eastern Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.

December 25 is observed as good governance day annually to celebrate the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

With several deadlines having been missed since construction of the bridge began on 2002, the first freight train ran over it on December 3.
