Northeast Live Impact: Sainik Board, Civil Society leaders come out in support of family of Martyr Hangpan Dada

After Northeast Live highlighted the plight of the family members of Late Havildar Hangpan Dada who was martyred while fighting terrorists in Kashmir in 2016, reactions have poured in extending support to Dada’s family members.

Director of the Directorate of Sainik Welfare Assam, Brigadier Joshi Narain Dutt has stepped in to extend his support to the family members of brave Havildar Hangpan Dada after North East Live aired a news story on the hardships faced by the martyr’s wife.

Talking exclusively to North East Live, Brigadier Joshi expressing his concern over the matter said he would urge his Arunachal Pradesh counterpart to extend help to Dada’s wife.

On the issue of allotment of land and petrol pump to the martyr’s wife, the Director pointed out that both are State subject.

He, however, clarified that the Army’s involvement in the entire matter is restricted to giving eligibility certificate from the Directorate of Resettlement which was already handed over to the wife of Havildar Hangpan Dada.

Meanwhile, following the Northeast Live story reactions also came in from Arunachal Pradesh.

General Secretary of the All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union, Tobom Dai, stated that a martyr like Hangpan Dada should be treated with more respect.

He added that it has been more than two years since Hangpan Dada’s supreme sacrifice for the nation, yet his family is deprived of the financial aid as promised.
