The run up to the polls saw some high decibel campaigning especially by the national parties with the likes of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, BJP chief Amit Shah and Congress president Rahul Gandhi descending on the state to drum up support for their respective parties.
Even regional parties like the NPP saw Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma come over to campaign in the state.
The last few weeks also saw some colourful campaigning by political parties as popular singers and musicians were engaged to campaign for the respective parties.
