Vocal social activist Agnes Kharshiing and her fellow CSWO colleague Amita Sangma were brutally attacked by a group of 30-40 miscreants when they were on their way back to Shillong from Lad Rymbai in East Jaintia Hills.
It is being suspected that Kharshiing has been attacked at the behest of the coal mafia in the state.
Police had swung into action after the incident arresting two persons. But there has been no further breakthrough in the case since then.
