Suspected ULFA-Independent cadres abducted a tea estate employee identified as Debabrata Deb from Piyong in Namsai district of Arunachal Pradesh.

The 7-member group abducted Deb, an employee of a tea garden, owned by former Arunachal MLA and wife of Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein.

According to police, the suspected Ulfa cadres had come to the tea garden demanding Rs 3 crores as extortion following which Deb was abducted.

Earlier in June, ULFA-I cadres abducted a tea garden worker from Jagun in Assam’s Tinsukia district.
