Tripura govt to acquire 26 per cent equity share in OTPC

The Tripura cabinet has approved the increase in ownership shares of Tripura state government in OTPC, Palatana.
The ONGC Tripura Power Company Limited is the first environment-friendly Natural Gas based thermal power plant of Northeast.
At present, 50 percent shares of this power plant is owned by the ONGC, 26 per cent shares of IL&FS, 23.5 percent shares of IDFC and 0.05 percent shares by the Tripura State Government.
Currently IL&FS wants to sell 26 percent of their shares due to financial crisis. Tripura Government is interested in buying these shares; the state government has approved the purchase of 26 percent of the shares.
The OTPC Palatana thermal power project is located in Gumti district of the state.
