Justice Vijay Kumar Bist sworn in as new CJ of Sikkim High Court

Justice Vijay Kumar Bist has been sworn in as the new Chief Justice of Sikkim High Court on Tuesday. The oath was administered to Justice Bist by Sikkim Governor Ganga

Justice Vijay Kumar Bist has been sworn in as the new Chief Justice of Sikkim High Court on Tuesday.

The oath was administered to Justice Bist by Sikkim Governor Ganga Prasad at Ashirwad Hall, Raj Bhawan. Justice Vijay Kumar Bist succeeded Justice SK Agnihotri.

The office of Chief Justice fell vacant after Justice Agnihotri’s retirement from the Chief Justice position.

Justice Bist was born on 17 September 1957 at Lansdowne District of Pauri Garhwal, Uttarakhand and obtained his Law Degree from Allahabad University.

He was enrolled as an Advocate with the Bar Council of Uttar Pradesh in 1984 and started practicing in various segments of litigation’s till he continued practicing at Allahabad High Court.

After creation of Uttarakhand High Court, Justice Bist shifted to Nainital and practicing there.

On 01 July 2004 Justice Vijay Kumar Bist was designated as Uttarakhand High Court’s Senior Advocate and on November 1 2008 he was elevated as Judge of the Uttarakhand High Court , till he became the Chief Justice of Sikkim High Court.
