In a tragic incident, a forest guard died at Teok in Assam’s Jorhat district due to accidental gun fire.

The incident took place late yesterday evening when the forest guard identified as Hemanta Tamuli along with 5 other forest guard ventured out into the forest to shoo away wild elephants.

It is believed that a bullet got accidentally fired from the gun of one of Hemanta Tamuli’s colleagues and he died on the spot.

Suspectedly, bullet hit Hemanta Tamuli when one of his collegues fired in the air to disperse a herd of around 120 elephants.
