The second day of the North East Olympic Games got off to a glittering start in Manipur with a five day long schedule yesterday.

Conceptualized by the Olympic Associations of the eight northeastern states, the event will witness participation of over 1500 athletes from all the eight states of the region.

Athletes will be seen competing in 12 disciplines including archery, athletics, badminton, boxing, football, judo, karate, shooting, table tennis, taekwondo, weightlifting and wushu over the next five days.

Manipur stands at first position in the medal tally with 9 gold, 7 silver and 7 bronze medals. Following Manipur, is Assam at second and Mizoram at third position.
