The Bharatiya Janata Party is leaving no stone unturned to strengthen its grip in the state with NEDA convenor Himanta Biswa Sarma arriving in Aizawl on Tuesday.

Soon after the arrival of the NEDA convenor, the party announced its first list of candidates for 13 constituencies for the upcoming assembly elections.

The BJP had declared that it will contest all the 40 seats in the upcoming election to the state legislature, but announced names of only 13 candidates.

The remaining candidates will be announced after a scheduled meeting between the state BJP leadership and NEDA convenor Himanta Biswa Sarma.

According to the list, Mizoram BJP President Professor JV Hluna will contest from Tawi constituency and he’ll be up against former Home Minister and the new MNF nominee R Lalzirliana. From Congress, Rosiamngheta will contest from Tawi constituency.

It may be mentioned, that the party got a big boost with the high profile campaigning by BJP national president Amit Shah kicking off the campaign in the poll bound state who addressed thousands of party workers in Aizawl’s R Dengthuama indoor stadium on October 17.
