Crops damaged due to drying up of Siang river; farmers take to streets in Arunachal’s East Siang

The farmers in East Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh have taken to the streets demanding compensation for damaged crops. However, the district administration has stopped the farmers from staging protest
The farmers in East Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh have taken to the streets demanding compensation for damaged crops.
However, the district administration has stopped the farmers from staging protest rally.
The farmers are facing tough times as crop fields were damaged due to the drying up of the Siang. The farmers also aired their grievances during the protest.
While, the water level of Siang river has receded, flood waters of the Siang river had destroyed properties and crop fields worth lakh at Jonai in Assam’s Dhemaji district.
Many people have also been rendered homeless following the recent floods in Jonai.
