In a historic moment for the entire state the first passenger train was seen cruising at a speed of 120 km per hour over Bogibeel bridge on Monday.

The passenger train travelled from Dhomol village in Dibrugarh district to Tengani in Dhemaji district on an experimental basis conducted by the Commissioner of Railway Safety.

It may be mentioned that the 4.9 kilometer bridge is likely to be made operational by the end of this year.

Construction of the bridge started way back in 2002 and will connect the northern and southern banks of the Brahmaputra river.
