Dibrugarh district Disaster Management Authority has negated any kind of threat to the people downstream in Dibrugarh stating that the present water level of the Brahmaputra in Dibrugarh is 2.26 metres below the danger level.

According to a CWC official, the present level of the Brahmaputra in Dibrugarh at 6 am today was 103.44 metres against the danger level of 105.70.

This comes following a high alert issued by the East Siang district administration in Arunachal Pradesh on the apprehensions that a blockade in the river Yarlung Tsangpo in China caused due to an avalanche may burst any time causing sudden flash floods.

Earlier, East Siang Deputy Commissioner Tamiyo Tatak visited the villages along the Siang river to take stock of the situation.

Meanwhile, Congress MP from Arunachal Pradesh has wrote to External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj seeking her intervention into the matter saying that the blockade in the Yarlung Tsangpo river in China has resulted drying waters in the Siang River.
