Former Home Minister R Lalzirliana, who quit the Congress last month joined the opposition Mizo National Front (MNF) in Aizawl today.

Along with Lalzirliana, former MLA Lalthanliana also joined the MNF. Lalzirliana after joining the MNF said that he had quit the Congress for a host of issues.

He said that the people of Mizoram has lost trust in the Congress government in the state.

Lalzirliana said that during the clash along the Assam-Mizoram border earlier this year, the Mamit Deputy Commissioner imposed Section 144 CRPC under the order of Chief Minister Lalthanhawla and he was not informed about it, even though he was the State’s Home Minister at that point in time and hence was thinking of quitting the party.

It may be mentioned that Lalzirliana had resigned from Lal Thanhawla cabinet on September 14, three days after he was served a show-cause notice by the party High Command because of alleged anti-party activities.

He was expelled from the party on September 17. Lalzirliana also resigned as a legislator on Friday and finally decided to join the MNF.
