The court of the Judicial Magistrate of Meghalaya deferred its judgement on Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) leader Salahuddin Ahmed to November 9.

With this, the hearing on his case has been deferred for the third time in a row.

Ahmed, while coming out of the court informed that the hearing has again deferred to November 9.

It may be mentioned that the hearing on the verdict in Ahmed’s case has been deferred as the public prosecutor had sought for an adjournment.

Ahmed, who was the communications minister during the government of Bangladesh Nationalist Party leader Khaleda Zia from 2001-06, was arrested on May 1, 2015 from Golflink area in Meghalaya after people alerted the authorities about his movement in the area.

Police had registered a case against him under the Foreigners Act on charges of illegally entering India after he failed to produce his travel documents.
