In a sensational incident, a businessman was fired upon by a group of miscreants in Assam’s Lakhimpur district.
The incident happened last night at Parupabari in the Gohpur region when two unidentified miscreants opened fire at the businessman after he was returning home from his business establishment.
The businessman has been identified as Joginder Shah and is a resident of Pranjal Nagar in Gohpur. The injured was first sent to Tezpur for medical treatment after which was referred to the GMC Hospital in Guwahati.
Meanwhile, local business establishments in the area have shut down for the day protesting against the attack on Shah and are demanding justice.
