Meghalaya Congress MLA Clement Marak passed away at the age of 58 around 8.15 pm on Monday.

Marak breathed his last in New Delhi after prolonged period of illness. Marak was the Congress MLA from Selsella in West Garo Hills district of Meghalaya.

Marak, who was also the former power minister, had won the Selsella seat both in 2013 and 2018 assembly elections.

With his demise the Congress has been reduced to 19 seats in the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly.
