1st batch of 7 Rohingyas deported to Myanmar from Moreh border out-post

India has deported all the 7 Rohingyas, who were lodged in Assam’s Silchar Central Jail since 2012. All the 7 Rohingyas reached Moreh in Manipur and have been later deported

India has deported all the 7 Rohingyas, who were lodged in Assam’s Silchar Central Jail since 2012.

All the 7 Rohingyas reached Moreh in Manipur and have been later deported to Myanmar from the Moreh border out-post.

And they crossed over to Myanmar through the Indo-Myanmar Friendship gate with India finally completing the process of deportation of the first batch of Rohingyas from the country.

The Rohingyas crossed over from gate no 2 at Moreh border and have been received by officials from Myanmar.

Police personnel from the Myanmarese side received the Rohingya immigrants. The 7 Rohingyas were lodged at the Silchar Central Jail since 2012.

The United Nations’ Special Rapporteur on racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and intolerance, had expressed concerns over Indian Government’s plan to deport the persecuted members of the Myanmar minority group back to their country.
