The process to file claims and objections in the National Register of Citizens (NRC) began on Tuesday. The process will continue for a period of two months till November 29.
A person whose name is not included in either the part draft or the complete draft of NRC, will have to submit prescribed documents to get their names included in the NRC.
Applicants who have recently changed their address will have to file their claims at respective NRC seva kendras.
On the other hand, any objections against any individual, one can move NRC authorities seeking the deletion of names if not certain about the individuals place of origin.
The names of the applicants in draft NRC has been enrolled based on 15 documents. However, now only 10 documents could be relied upon for inclusion names in NRC.
The documents which cannot be the basis to claim citizenship are the 1951 NRC, pre-1971 voter’s list, citizenship certificate, refugee certificates and ration cards.
