The Autumn Session of the Assam Legislative Assembly began on a stormy note on Monday as opposition MLAs raised the NRC update issue and hike in fuel prices.

BJP MLA Shiladitya Dev took his protest against NRC to the House. He staged a unique protest with placards in his hand, demanding a fair deal for all.

He maintained his view that the entire exercise has not been a transparent process as many have been left out.

Dev has been in the news for making several controversial statements regarding the NRC update process.

Two new bills – Sri Sri Aniruddhadeva Sports University Bill, 2018 and The Assam Inland Water Transport Re-organization Bill, 2018 — are likely to be tabled in nine-day session of the House.
