A candle-light rally was taken out in Imphal by hundreds of protesters on Monday evening demanding justice for Farooque Khan, who was lynched by an irate mob on Saturday.

Various rights bodies and civil society organisations while extending support to the rally said that people should refrain from taking law into their own hands.

On the other hand, Imphal West SP, Jogesh Chandra said that investigation into the incident is on in full swing.

Moreover, the SP said that 3 of the 4 armed policemen who were present at the spot during the incident have been terminated from their services for their failure to attend the victim.
