Political war of words continue between the ruling BJP and opposition CPI(M) in Tripura.

Addressing media persons at CPI(M) Tripura state Committee office in Agartala in the evening on Wednesday, former Chief Minister and leader of Opposition Manik Sarkar said that democracy is being slaughtered in the state now.

With the Panchayat elections knocking at the door, Sarkar appealed to the election office to ensure free elections in the state. He also called for adequate security for opposition leaders so that the elections can be completed without any hiccups.

Also present in the press meet were former ministers Badal Chowdhury and Tapan Chakraborty.

Meanwhile reacting to Manik Sarkar’s allegations that democracy is being slaughtered in Tripura, Chief Minister Biplab Deb said that its the opinion of the masses that really counts not what opposition leaders are saying.
