Rampant erosion continues to be a major problem in Assam even floods have largely receded from most parts of the state.

Lahorighat in Morigaon district has been seeing heavy erosion caused by the mighty Brahmaputra River causing many families to already lose their homes.

The erosion has been so acute lately that daily about 5 to 10 metres of land are being lost to the sharp currents of the river.

Even after all this the authorities seem to be oblivious to the problem at hand and no steps have been taken to tackle the erosion problem properly.

In this context, the locals are making an appeal to the authorities to tackle this issue at the earliest.
