Students of the National Institute of Technology, Sikkim continued their protest demanding a permanent campus.
NIT Sikkim has been functioning from a temporary site at Rabongla in South District and students have yet again hit the streets demanding a permanent campus and other basic facilities.
Students of NIT Sikkim have been on a peaceful protest for over a month, demanding a permanent campus and facilities befitting a premier engineering institution.
The new academic session has also been affected by the peaceful protest as the students have refused to attend classes.
Meanwhile, in the wake of the students’ protest, a high level delegation from Sikkim called upon Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar in New Delhi today.
The delegation met Javadekar to seek a permanent solution to NIT Sikkim land issue.
It may be mentioned that during the meeting, a DO letter from Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling was also handed over to Javadekar.
